Ensure and be secure:

Always look for the UPI ID properly reflecting the name of the intermediary followed by the short abbreviation of the category, i.e. “.ia” to the left of the “@” character.

  1. On the right side of the “@”, the new and exclusive handle “@valid” should be present, followed by the bank name
  2. Do not send funds to any entity that does not display these features.
  3. To provide an additional layer of security and help investors verify authenticity before financial transactions, SEBI is developing a functionality named “SEBI Check”. Once operational, this will allow investors to verify UPI IDs either by scanning a QR code or entering the UPI ID manually.
